Winter Pride in Doncaster

Written by

Details have been released about the line-up for this year’s Winter Pride. Winter Pride is in its second year and is held at Crystals Bar and Nightclub in Market Place, Doncaster over the weekend of 1st and 2nd February and is open to ALL.

Pride events are a celebration of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community but are open to ANYONE, bringing together all people from all walks of life in a good old fashioned party atmosphere. Winter Pride in Doncaster is no different with around 10 hours of cabaret planned over the 2 days, most on the Sunday with a line-up that features the very best drag performers from across the UK as well as a number of singers and tribute performers - all of whom give their time for free as a fundraising event for the main Pride event in August.

Crystals Bar and Nightclub – Doncaster’s only openly gay venue works closely with the Pride organisers and owner Barry Dalby said of the plans

“Winter Pride is designed to give people something to look forward to in the cold, dark months of January and February. We are going all out this year with an amazing line up that brings together, in one day, performers from across the UK, some of them preparing already for summer seasons across Europe. We have managed to pull together a variety show for Sunday that you would have to go a long way to top.”

Pride Event lead Jenny Dewsnap added, “We are indebted to Barry, Crystals and all the performers for the opportunity to put on Winter Pride and raise much needed cash for the main event in August. If you’ve never been to Crystals, or a Pride event then this is a show not to miss. If you enjoy live venues, variety performers and singers then please join us as this event is open to anyone and you will not be disappointed.

The whole point of Pride events are to celebrate our similarities and not our differences and Crystals certainly has the recipe right for a fantastic friendly party atmosphere and whether you’re 18 or 80 gay or straight you will feel safe and welcome.”

This year’s Summer Pride will take place on Saturday 16th August in the new Civic Square, Waterdale, Doncaster and will this year be a FREE event.

Jenny concluded, “For us to deliver Summer Pride to the thousands of people that will attend we need to be able to raise the funds – Winter Pride is one of the ways we can do this. Working with Crystals Doncaster and with the support of the entertainers, promoters and acts we aim to raise a substantial amount of money over the Winter Pride weekend to assist us in putting on an even better show in August.”
