Stonewall’s Brighton Equality Walk on 6 May raised over £65,000 for the charity’s Education for All Campaign, which helps schools tackle homophobic bullying.
Nearly 600 supporters took part in the record-breaking 10k Walk, which was opened by John and Sally Bercow and hosted by TOWIE star Harry Derbidge and Casualty actor Jane Hazlegrove. As Mr Bercow cut the starting line ribbon, he said: ‘Thank you to Stonewall, who must be regarded as one of the most successful campaigns in British political history.’
This year’s Walk was supported by American Express and Square Peg Media. The Top Team prize went to PricewaterhouseCoopers, who raised over £7,000. Other Walkers included the Mayor of Brighton and Hove, Councillor Anne Meadows, and local MPs Caroline Lucas and Simon Kirby.
