A new course of workshops for gay men who feel they behave compulsively or addictively when it comes to sex is being launched. The group will take place each Wednesday for 8 weeks from 6.30 – 9pm in central London.
The ‘Call yourself a sex addict?’ group aims to help people who feel that their sexual behaviour is having an overwhelming and negative impact on their lives. It is led by expert facilitators who have training to deal with addiction issues.
Gordon Mundie, Group work co-ordinator at THT said “Having a lot of sex may sound fantastic, but some men find it taking over their lives. If they’re not having sex, they might think about it constantly, may spend a lot of time looking for it, or might put themselves in increasingly risky sexual situations. If you feel your relationship with sex is out of control, there is help available. Just get in touch.”
To mark the legalization of same-sex marriages in parts of America, Ben & Jerry's ice cream company has changed the name of its popular “Chubby Hubby” ice cream to “Hubby Hubby” for the month of September.
The re-naming was taken in partnership with Freedom to Marry, a marriage equality group.
A spokeperson for Ben & Jerry’s explained it “aims to raise awareness of the importance of marriage equality and to encourage other states to follow the blazing trails of Vermont, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Iowa, and Maine.”
The name change to “Hubby Hubby” is temporary and largely symbolic. “Hubby Hubby” ice cream will only be sold in America in September.
Just in case you fancy it, Hubby Hubby is fudge covered peanut butter filled pretzels in vanilla malt ice cream rippled with fudge and peanut butter. Yum.
...they are all homo heroes!
Over the past few weeks the Lesbian & Gay Foundation (LGF) have been asking visitors to LGF online to nominate their homo heroes. Those people in the public eye - lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans or heterosexual - who have made people sit up and take notice of LGB&T issues.
This year the theme at Manchester Pride is heroes, and the top 20 homo heroes voted for by LGF online visitors will proudly be held aloft as part of the LGF's Manchester Pride parade entry on Saturday August 29.
One of the top 20 homo heroes - Peter Tatchell – will be leading the Manchester Pride parade, and got in touch with us to tell us his homo heroes. The gay rights campaigner voted for writer, wit and fellow homo hero Oscar Wilde, Dr Magnus Hirschfeld the German physician, sex researcher, and early gay rights advocate, and Harry Hay - an early leader in the American LGBT rights movement and co-founder the Mattachine Society.
