Fresh from changing her surname to promote her home city, singing star Rowetta, famous for wooing Simon Cowell on the X Factor and her time with the Happy Mondays, is heading to Spain to represent Manchester and the UK in a singing competition called ‘Gayvision’.
Gayvision brings together singing talent from across Spain as they compete for the title – with last year’s winner going on to being picked as an entrant for Eurovision 2012.
Now, with Gayvision into its second year and following on from Manchester being awarded the accolade of most gay friendly city in the world by Expogays, the Business Expo based in Torremolinos, Malaga, Rowetta has been asked to participate and fly the flag for the City and UK’s LGB&T community on Saturday October 15th.
Rowetta, who presents her own show on Gaydio every Saturday from 4-6pm, will be performing her self-penned song ‘Mother Love’ on the night and already the website with details of the song plus the other 19 contestants is getting strong support.
She said ‘I’ve always been a massive supporter of the gay community and I’m passionate about diversity and equality, so it’s an absolute honour for me to be heading to Gayvision and doing what I love to do – sing my songs!’
You can hear the song and see more online at the website www.uk.gayvision.net - you can also follow Rowetta for updates on Twitter @Rowetta
Gaydio will also be at the event, broadcasting programmes into the weekend with Showbiz Reporter Alex Goldberg getting star feedback and talking to fans.
