Banker turned recording artist, singer, songwriter and activist, Sir Ivan has released his latest single ‘La La Land’.
He collaborated with producers Russell Ali, Jason Evigan and lyricist Josh Skinner and worked with music video directors Dylan Trussel and David Dinetz – to "record and create a vibrant world" where all problems are solved and all differences celebrated.
The La La Land video starts in black and white and as the song hots-up, it opens into full colour and rainbow coloured flags showing Sir Ivan’s support for the LGBT community.
As the son of a Holocaust survivor, Sir Ivan has always been an activist for peace. Brought up with a heightened awareness of the harm that being perceived as different can cause, he is keen to demonstrate peace, tolerance and understanding through my music. He's particularly focussed on the needs of the LGBT community - joining the debate on equal marriage, bullying and homophobia.
LGBT Rock fans are in for a treat this summer, lesbian fronted alt rock band "Kenelis" will be performing at SEVEN of this year’s major Pride events including Brimingham, Brighton and Cardiff Prides.
Kenelis describe themselves as combination of grunge, punk and anthemic shoegaze all fused together in a big pot of rock! Comparisons have included the raw angst of Hole, vulnerability of Placebo and diversity of Radiohead. Kenelis have shared the stage with the likes of Reuben, Hundred Reasons, Your Codename is: Milo, Fightstar, Ghost of a Thousand and The Levellers (Mark Chadwick). Due to the success of last summer’s Pride performances at London Pride (women’s stage), Nottingham pride and Brighton Student Pride, word has quickly spread about Kenelis and this has generated an exciting buzz on the LGBT scene.
Tuesday 17 May marks international day against homophobia, a day that recalls how much discrimination persists against people who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, or non-gendered.
Liberal Democrat European justice & human rights spokeswoman and London MEP Sarah Ludford, Vice President of the Liberal Democrat LGBT group (DELGA) and an active member of the European Parliament lesbian & gay rights intergroup, said, “In the UK, the Liberal Democrats, who have always been proud to represent and stand up for lesbian, gay and trans rights, are leading a consultation on how to remove inequality between marriage and same-sex civil partnerships. The LibDem equalities minister Lynne Featherstone, backed solidly by the party, is determined to make progress on this."
“At international level there is still a fight on very basic justice. A priority for the worldwide gay rights effort is universal decriminalisation of homosexuality across the globe and eradication of the death penalty for homosexuality in the 8 countries that still impose this appalling punishment.”
Green MEP for London, Jean Lambert, has called for greater equality for all Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) communities ahead of a special European Parliament photo exhibition held to mark next week’s International Day Against Homophobia.
The collection of images, taken by esteemed photographer Charles Meacham, forms a photo exploration of Pride marches throughout Europe, celebratory events held to promote diversity and equality as well as to foster a sense of community within the LGBT population.
