FREE FILM SCREENING: Beyond the Pink Curtain

FREE FILM SCREENING: Beyond the Pink Curtain
Homophobia remains an institutional practice in post-Communist Europe, as evidenced by Lithuania's introduction of legislation akin to Britain's defunct Section 28.

This is despite that country's membership of the European Union and the expectation of a commitment to its ethos of social equality.

Beyond the Pink Curtain is a documentary that highlights the problems faced in the East, while questioning the West's authority to pass judgment and investigating the power and responsibility of the European Union to protect us.  It features activists from Lithuania, Serbia, Poland, the UK and pan-European NGOs, and interviews with members of the far Right in Serbia.
The film was shown recently at Baltic Pride, where it was picked up by the Italian and German branches of Amnesty International for use in their campaigns and it is due to screen at Queer Sarajevo and Belgrade Pride later in the year.

There will be a free screening in London on Wednesday 1st July 2009.  If the film sounds of interest but you won't be able to get to this event, please feel free to sign up to the mailing list on our website (www.beyondthepinkcurtain.com) or join our Facebook page, both of which will keep you notified of future screenings.

Beyond the Pink Curtain (71 minutes)
Wednesday, 1st July at 7pm
Bloomsbury Theatre, Gordon Street, London, WC1H 0AH
Nearest tubes: Euston, Euston Square, Russell Square.
