Bradford Pride 2009 is shaping up to be a great celebration, centred around events in Centenary Square in the centre of the city on Saturday 30 May. Top broadcaster and writer Amy Lame will be starting things at 2pm.
The Equity Partnership has this year employed a specialist Pride coordinator to organise the main event with the voluntary Pride Group. Jenny Wilson has a long history of organising events for the Bradford Council and Playhouse.
The first event at the moment is an evening of Comedy and Culture in the Colour Museum on 28 May. Pride will close with a women's evening at the Alhambra, again a lot of comedy but also a lot of music, on Friday 5 June.
Bradford Pride 2009 will be the first major city centre celebration of the LGB comunities of Bradford. The event will run all Saturday afternoon with the rainbow flag flying over City Hall. There will be a market with a variety of stalls, a family marquee with children's activities, and stage acts and DJs, introduced by Amy Lame, from 2pm to 6.30pm.
