Stonewall Supports IDAHO

IDAHOStonewall fully supports IDAHO (the International Day Against Homophobia) on Monday 17 May - a landmark 20 years to the day that the World Health Organisation took the groundbreaking decision to remove homosexuality from its list of mental disorders.

Laura Doughty, Stonewall’s Deputy Chief Executive, said: ‘To many people Britain now seems like a very accepting country for lesbian, gay and bisexual people but scratch the surface and it becomes sadly apparent that homophobia is still very much alive. For Stonewall every day is a day against homophobia – and we’ll continue to campaign against it where it exists – at home, at school and at work.’

Sainsbury's Turns Moths Gay

PinkMothMoths are being turned gay in a new pest control system introduced by Sainsbury's to protect Britain's apple crop from its biggest predator.

Theresa Huxley from Sainsbury's explains "We want to do all that we can to ensure that British apples are the best value and tastiest apples available today”.

Codling Moths, which attack apples and ruin the fruit, have the ability to devastate entire crops if left uncontrolled.

Three orchards are now established using the system which involves spraying male moths with an imitation of female pheromones, causing males to become attracted to other males, which disrupts the breeding cycle and vastly reduces the number of viable moth eggs.

Would you take a 'straight-pill'?

Pink PillA new survey has revealed that 3 in 4 gay people would refuse to take a pill to turn them straight.

Strange as it may seem, homosexuality was listed as a psychiatric disorder in the UK up until 1993. Whilst homosexuality has become more widely accepted, embraced and understood over the past 15 years, some people still promote the fallacy of a ‘cure’.

In a recent survey conducted by the free gay dating website ManCentral.com, members were asked if they would take a pill to change their sexual orientation. Lee Martin, a spokesman for the site, explained the reasons for conducting the sensitive research; “In recent years, there have been reports of members of the LGBT community seeking to ‘cure’ themselves through various religious and questionably medical means. Whilst we strongly believe that sexuality is innate, and therefore not something that can or should be ‘cured’, we felt the research would enable the LGBT community to recognise the importance of self-acceptance alongside wider social acceptance.”
